This makeover has been over a year in the making. Yes, I starting plotting it last October with the wonderful feedback, input, and insights I got from you, Dear Reader.
A funny thing happened on the way to our Spring launch. No not, funny funny, but funny funny, if you know what I mean. It involved me as a pedestrian in a crosswalk and a car that decided it was her turn to go since all the traffic had stopped. She didn’t think about why the traffic had stopped. That would be me in the crosswalk. So that was the end cap to My Year of Living Injuriously, April 2012-April 2013.
Since I started this blog after sustaining a concussion and being advised to stay up all night, this space has been an experimental playground. I’ve learned a lot through both successes and failures…as well as plenty of near misses. There isn’t a blog post I’ve written that I don’t think I could do better. In my world that is something to celebrate!
Come with me as I reinvent and reinvigorate this blog.
I hope you’ll learn as much as I will.
Step 1: Check
From day one we’ve had larabritt.com parked on this site. Lara Britt is the pen name I chose that would be closest to an authentic name as I could get while still maintaining family privacy. With the advent of Google Authorship…
…what not sure you know what Google Authorship is? Read this wonderfully helpful piece by Martin Shervington, Guide to Google Authorship for Businesses and Individuals. Don’t be frightened by the Search Engine-centric title. Martin writes clean and clear copy. He also has a knack for helpful visuals.
What this means is that Google knows me as both Lara Britt and Lori Sailiata. It tends to prefer me as Lori Sailiata when it lists my content and attaches my bio and headshot in your searches. I’ll still continue to use the Lara Britt brand, especially for my fiction pieces, and it is part of my official business name, Lara Britt Writes.
As I move through the steps of the Infographic above, I will also change the name of this blog to the more recognizable, Lara Britt Writes. Our new tagline is Around & About Hawaii.
Have you missed me? I know I’ve missed all of you. But you know the common sense warning, “Don’t Drink & Tweet?” Call me crazy, but I was fearing that the same would hold true for Vicodin. Just saying! What have you all been up to? What are you missing. What do you want to see more of. I hope Penny Pincher in Paradise is on that list.
